How to avoid a Compliance Fine: Email Tips

The Florida Gulf Coast MLS works diligently each month to ensure that your MLS data is accurate and is being used in a professional, honest manner by all our Subscribers and Technology Companies.   This article discusses some ways to ensure that the listing agent and office receive any Data Checker notifications for their listings, and tips to avoid getting a fine.

In addition to our monthly training classes and online resources, the FGCMLS office also operates a Compliance Data Checker program.  This allow for email notifications to the listing agent and office broker if there is a potential violation of FGCMLS rules.     Not correcting these types of notices in a timely manner can lead to fines.   Education and training is our goal, but fines happen.  Surprisingly, fines most commonly occur due to the listing agent not seeing the first warning notice.

A common call that FGCMLS receives each month is when the listing agent has received a compliance fine, but doesn’t remember seeing the first email warning.   It is possible that the Data Checker email may have been sent to a Junk/Spam folder, or the email has changed.   Here are some helpful tips to ensure you are receiving Data Checker alerts.
