Maintaining Licensure and Membership

Need to renew your license?

Licensing & Continuing Education Requirements

The Royal Palm Coast Realtor® Association supports your REALTOR® membership by providing educational programs, products, and resources tailored to your professional growth. Your real estate license is maintained by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), while the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) oversees its regulation.

Florida Licensing & Renewal Requirements

To keep your real estate license active, all licensees must fulfill post-licensing or continuing education requirements and pay the applicable renewal fees. This requirement also applies to those with a suspended license. License renewals occur every 24 months on either March 31 or September 30, based on your initial licensure date, which can be found at the bottom of your license.

For more information, visit My Florida License or contact the DBPR’s customer service center at 850-487-1395, available Monday through Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM, EST.

Post-licensing is required in your first licensing cycle (within 16 to 18 months of getting your license). Sales Associates are required to complete 45 hours of post-license education.

Post-licensing is required for broker licensees in their first licensing cycle (within 16 to 18 months of getting your license). Brokers are required to complete 60 hours of post-license education.

After your first renewal, your license will need to be renewed every two years by completing 14 hours of continuing education and by paying a state renewal fee every two years.

The 14 hours of continuing education consist of...

  • 3 Hours Florida Core Law
  • 3 Hours Real Estate Business Ethics
  • 8 Hours Specialty Credits

To comply with the statutory requirements of your profession, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) has established a 100% Post and Continuing Education Monitoring system. Course providers must report your education completion to the department within 30 days of finishing the course or before the expiration date, whichever comes first.
